REASONS WHY YOUR MELASMA IS NOT GOING AWAY

REASONS WHY YOUR MELASMA IS NOT GOING AWAY

There are several reasons why your melasma might not be going away. Besides proper products there are other factors that come into play. It is important to treat it properly and like any other disease sooner the better. We have listed four major factors that might be the reasons:

  1. You don’t avoid trigger factors

Even though you are using the products well and applying medication as long as you don’t avoid the trigger factors you might never see any changes. There are a few trigger factors you should put into consideration like sun exposure, heat, friction, pregnancy, birth control bills, certain health conditions like thyroid and Low level of vitamin B12. These all factors need to be taken care of to see the changes. We have melanocytes cells in our skin and if it’s triggered for some reason it will produce more colour then it actually should. It is the main reason why we see pigmentation issues. Doing the right treatment is important but it’s equally important to avoid the trigger factors.

  1. You don’t apply enough sunscreen

Unfortunately many clients still think applying sunscreen in their morning skincare is enough, whereas it’s really important to reapply sunscreen every two hours for continuous protection from sun and other harmful rays. It’s important to reapply sunscreen even if you are indoors or outdoors whether it’s summer or winter. Even if you are applying expensive serums or doing medical treatment, if you are not protecting your skin with sunscreen your treatment won’t be effective at all. Sunscreen is very important for melasma treatment and prevention and it’s better to use mineral based sunscreen.

  1. You are using random products

To treat melasma it’s quite complex. Just applying serum won’t be enough at times to see the results. Many people just simply use serums just because they see videos on tiktok or instagram as dark spot correcting serum, brightening serum etc. Melasma is a chronic skin condition and just applying those serums won’t be enough to see the results. It’s not something that is completely curable. The better treatments, products, routine you use and follow for a longer period of time better the results. It’s always better to do proper treatment instead of using random products. Cosmetic products won’t be helpful with melasma. It’s better to book for consultation with skin expert and start treatment as soon as possible. Always remember sooner the better.

  1. You want quick results

Many of us expect results too quickly. Unfortunately that’s not the case with melasma. We won’t see changes in 2-3  months. Most of us  have had melasma from  2,3 to even 5 years and expect to see quick  results.  At Least we need a year of proper products, routine and treatment to recover the skin  and see  results. And even after seeing the results there is a high chance of it reoccurring if you don’t follow the routine , use the  products ,reapply sunscreen or avoid trigger factors. Consistency is really important when it comes to melasma.

Whenever you have melasma and feel like it’s not getting better make sure you check factors above which might be  the reason. Sometimes many factors come into play to see the  results you desire . And if you want to consult about your skin issues you can book for an online consultation at appointments@skincarenepal.com.
